Songs of the Susquehanna

Picture
Our Songs of the Susquehanna project started in late 2020, early 2021 as a way to engage new people about river-based issues during the pandemic without the ability to live, in-person events. We encourage musicians to create new original songs about the Susquehanna River, its tributaries and/or the creatures that depend on the aquatic ecosystem and submit them by January 31 of each year for consideration on our annual albums.

The project has opened doors for our association to attend arts festivals and other places where we can talk about the river and the issues it faces. We strive to promote the wide variety of musicians with great talent across our watershed and give them another avenue to showcase their skills.

Songs of the Susquehanna: Vol. 4 (Coming in 2024)

We will be accepting new original river-inspired songs from regional musicians from Nov. 1, 2023, through Jan. 31, 2024. These will be put out publicly on our website for online feedback throughout the month of February 2024 and the final 20 songs to be listed on our Volume 4 album will be announced in early March 2024.

To submit a song, simply email the mp3 version to midsusriver@gmail.com. If the song has lyrics, those should be included in the body of the email. If you have questions, email Riverkeeper John Zaktansky at midsusriver@gmail.com
