The first six program days of the HERYN (Helping Engage the River's Youth with Nature) kayaking and fishing program days were a huge success, as 73 young people from 10 different counties learned valuable skills in both areas while boosting confidence and making some new friends.

Because of that success, and multiple requests from past participants and their families, we are working on a next level HERYN experience for graduates of the original program.
Tentatively called the "Blue HERYN" program, participants will utilize the skills they learned from our original (Green HERYN) on a paddling and fishing excursion down the Penns Creek in Snyder County.

Instruction will include a variety of new hazards of kayaking on moving water and will incorporate both kayaking and fishing together during the day.

To be eligible for this program, participants must have already graduated a Green HERYN program day (currently held at the Central PA Wesleyan Campground near New Columbia).

Final details on dates, times and specific locations on the Penns Creek are currently being worked out.

If you are interested in your child participating in this program, please fill out the following form as soon as possible. Information from it will be very helpful as we plan things out.

It is very important to us to keep our HERYN programs free/cost effective for all young people, regardless of family financial situations. To do this, we need your help. Donations are encouraged during our 2022 Raise the Region campaign, running now through 11:59 p.m. Thursday, March 10.
